A financial services firm is looking for a Database Engineer to join their team in New York, NY.
The Database Engineering staff provides high-level quality support services for the Businesss mission critical systems and databases. Database Engineers act as technical resources to the Banks major infrastructure and data projects and assist with the design and implementation of system and database infrastructure components.
The successful candidate would be required to demonstrate strong technical problem solving skills and strong communication skills, the ability to comfortably multitask and work in a mission critical environment. The candidate must be able to work independently and willing to accept new technical challenges. Most importantly the candidate must have good experience in data modeling for Data warehousing projects that uses Oracle database technologies.
Responsibilities:
- Represent the Data Engineering team in all data architecture, data modeling, and application development
- Provide senior level experience in modeling
- Enterprise grade data warehouses to the modeling work group
- Monitor and tune of database environments to ensure optimum performance and maximization of available resources
- Provide assistance with the investigations and resolution of complex infrastructure technical issues
- Perform data model design reviews and evaluations to ensure that the group standards and best practices are being adhered to and the resulting physical databases meet project needs
- Develop, maintain and enhance data modeling and database design documents, policies, procedures
- Collaborate with the application developers, architects and project team on logical and physical database design and implementations
- Prepare high quality documentation of design/architecture/database infrastructure documents; Assist in ad hoc projects, assignments and responsibilities as necessary
- Must be able to write comprehensive SQL and tune them
- Responsible for maintaining and extending data standards
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field or at least 7+ years relevant work experience as Oracle DB Engineer
- Solid understanding of Oracle 12c features : Multi-Tenant, In-Memory, etc.
- Extensive experience in Performance tuning and Oracle Internals
- Expertise as an application DBA Experience working in an Agile Scrum Environment
- Experience in shell scripting and python
- Experience automatic database and application deployments
- Expertise in RAC One Node, RAC, and ASM Experience working on Exadata
- Experience using Golden Gate to replicate / distribute data
- Knowledge of AWS database ( RDS, DynamoDB)
- Must be self-motivated, able to work independently and highly responsible in maintaining time critical projects schedule
- Effective verbal and written skills, including good presentation skills
