System One is actively seeking a C/S Engineer I for a contract position located in Downers Grove, IL.
C/S Engineer Responsibilities:
- Responsible in the design office for routine engineering and design tasks of the civil/structural area of assigned projects based on specific and detailed instructions received from the assigned supervisor as to the required tasks and results expected
- Perform Structural Engineering duties in the Management of the Projects workforce, finances, and materials used on the specific project
- Responsible for design and safety of temporary structures used during construction
- Applying basic technical principles, theories, standards, and concepts in development of engineering design packages
- Consider construction costs, government regulations, potential environmental hazards, and other factors in planning stages and risk analysis
- Perform or oversee soil testing to determine the adequacy and strength of foundations
- Test building materials, such as concrete, asphalt, or steel, for use in specific projects
- Provide cost estimates for materials, equipment, or labor to determine a projects economic feasibility
- Perform or oversee, surveying operations to establish reference points, grades, and elevations to guide construction
- Present technical information to peers or other personnel for review, to implement operating procedures, and resolve system malfunctions
- Independently evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria using judgment in making minor adaptations and modifications
- Provide specific to discipline technical expertise to the degree of preparing and providing training for other personnel; both within the company and for the customer
- Other duties as assigned by Manager
C/S Engineer Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering from a four-year college or university with focus in Structural Design Courses
- Passed or plan to take Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam
- 0-3 years of Structural Engineering experience in the Power and Industrial industry
- Complex Problem Solving (STEM)

- Occasional periods of field/office work entailing travel
- May be required to work in an office, as well as in a power plant environment

Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's Degree or equivalent
- Experience working as an engineer in the Industrial -Construction/Services Industry is a plus
- STAAD analysis software experience
