Microbiology Lead needed for a contract opportunity with Yoh Scientific's client located in Rockville, MD area.
This position is in the QC Microbiology department of a major pharmaceutical company, and requires a Bachelor's degree, 5-8 years of microbiology experience in biopharmaceutical industry, and broad experience in microbiology testing and sampling.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead projects, provide routine QC Microbiology laboratory support
- Complete daily assigned routine tasks timely and accurately (may include collection and/or testing of GMP samples, reporting of data, assisting other Microbiologists, general lab housekeeping)
- Paperwork completion, review, data entry, filing, etc.
- Serve on team projects (i.e. qualifications, investigation) in the role of testing support, as needed
- Responsible for completing laboratory housekeeping to ensure safety and compliance
- Identify areas for improvement or gaps in both safety and compliance (ZAPs/ZIPs)
- Effectively communicate issues/hurdles to supervisor and/or manager
- Provide training to staff both within and outside of QC Microbiology
- Generate data reports and/or trends
- Author SOPs and WIs, and revises them for clarity and accuracy
- Author and review protocols, reports, CAPAs, DEs, LIs, etc.
- Attend cross-functional meetings as a QC Microbiology representative
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in scientific discipline (Biology or Microbiology preferred)
- 8+ years industrial experience in biopharmaceutical industry, such as Microbiology, Biology, or related field experience.
- Experience in all of areas of QC microbiology testing/sampling.
- Successful track record of leading projects with an intra-departmental scope
