Classification: Payroll Clerk
Compensation: $23.75 to $27.50 hourly

Robert Half is seeking a Payroll Clerk to join the dynamic team at one of our clients in the Construction/Contractor industry! This position will support the Payroll department at an industry leader with a variety of duties, including data entry, reconciliation of timecards, paycheck distribution and providing statements to various departments. Being able to effectively communicate with both internal team members and outside customers is crucial to succeeding on this dynamic, fast-growing team. This Payroll Clerk opportunity is based in the Austin, Texas area and is a long-term contract / temporary employment role.
Major responsibilities
- Perform basic clerical duties such as filing, scanning, faxing, photocopying, etc
- Build and run custom reports
- Distribute and administer reports as instructed
- Data entry into spreadsheets and the payroll system
- Compile data into spreadsheets and the payroll system
- Communicate with organization employees via a variety of channels to obtain approvals of timesheets
- Deliver instruction/training to employees regarding the use of payroll-related systems including entry of timesheets, online access of pay statements, etc.- Previous payroll experience
- Data entry, document management, file creation and previous records experience required
- Strong time management and organizational skills
- Detailed and have the ability work independently
- Adeptness in Certified Payroll
- Multi-state payroll experience desired
- Demonstrated knowledge of in-house payroll
- Foundational knowledge in IRS W-2 Forms
- General familiarity with Process Payroll
- Prevailing Wage experience highly desired
- Command of workers compensation
- Deep understanding of Employment Verifications
- Excellent oral and written communications skills
- Prior Payroll software experience preferred
- Eagerness to master new systems
