Sales Tax/eCommerce Accountant

Summary: The Sales Tax/Ecommerce Accountant works closely with the Controller and Sales Tax/ Ecommerce Accounting Manager as a key contributor to the accounting operations for the Ecommerce and Digital lines of business. Strong knowledge of GAAP/IFRS is required along with solid communication, technology, organizational and analytical abilities. Responsibilities involve creating and maintaining Digital financial statements, assuring Magento related transactions are properly accounted for, month end close, preparing financial statements and reports, reconciliations, and establishing and maintaining internal control, and ensuring sales tax compliance for Panini America and Panini Digital. CPA or CPA candidate preferred.

Responsibilities:
Assure effectiveness of control environment for E-Commerce and Indirect Tax activities. Includes compliance with U.S. GAAP/IFRS, Delegation of Authority requirements, and State & Local tax laws. Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures as related to sales tax.
Contribute to building and maintaining established Digital Accounting processes in ERP system.
Actively participate as part of the E-Commerce team. Review new initiatives and provide proactive direction to business partners. Support integration with customer initiatives in digital commerce.
Collaborate with IT and be the primary business process owner with regards to the digital commerce and tax platforms, Magento & Avalara. Identify and implement appropriate controls for current / new platforms and processes.
Provide consistent, standardized, and effective E-Commerce and Indirect Tax policies and procedures.
Support system implementations, upgrades and enhancements in E-Commerce and Indirect Tax. Participate as a key team member to ensure compliance with controllership standards and successful operational implementations.
Liaise and collaborate with Panini Corporate Teams in Finance/Legal/Operations/Accounting areas of expertise to align on strategy/implementations
Lead responsibility for day-to-day accounting and reporting including chargebacks, credit card administration, merchant banking fees, sales return reserves, and indirect tax compliance. 
Provide adequate documentation to support credit card chargebacks (disputes), timely file the documentation with Braintree, PayPal, and other providers. Ensure all disputes are worked timely. 
Ensure compliance with all indirect tax requirements, including sales tax, excise tax, and other indirect taxes. Manage monthly sales tax filings with our outside service provider – ensure filings are completed, payments are made, new filings requirements are identified
Assist with responding to sales tax audit requests, analyzing data, pulling documentation for state tax audits, discussions with state auditors and outside service providers. 
Ensure all indirect tax business licenses are maintained and are current. 
Ensure customer and vendor compliance on sales tax charges, including resale certificates
Monitor quarterly / annual entity filings completed by our outside service provider, ensure new filing requirements are identified
Monitor changes in our business and work with management on indirect tax strategies and procedures as necessary

Requirements:
BA/BS in Accounting required; CPA required
Experience in Microsoft Office - Outlook, Excel, Word; AX experience preferred.
Experience in Sales Tax (SAAS) software preferred.
Self-directed; able to work independently and as a member of a team. 
Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines and adjust priorities in a fast-paced, ever-changing and evolving work environment with shifting time frames. 
Strong Microsoft Excel skills required
3+ years of progressive and related experience with US GAAP (or IFRS) accounting, general ledger and audit and indirect tax.
