Position Summary:

Our client is seeking an Applications Developer to be part of its Information Technology team. The developer would assist with support, maintenance, development and enhancement of software for the Division. The primary focus will be supporting and modernizing of the custom applications currently written in Microsoft Access in conjunction with an Oracle Database. This position is responsible for staying current with industry trends and methodologies to support and upgrade systems as necessary.

Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:

  • Analyze Division operational needs such as technological advancements and implement process improvements. This will include, but is not limited to planning effective use of technology capabilities, making formal presentations and conducting internal training of operation systems.
  • Assist users with application functionality and troubleshooting of issues. Develop corrective action plans and present them to be approved for scheduled development.
  • Design, develop, test and deploy applications, from layout to function and according to the client's specifications.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by IT Project Manager.


Qualifications:

Education:

  • Degree in a related Information Technology field or two to four years hands-on job experience.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Successful completion of 24 hours in computer science coursework or certification and two years experience coding, testing, and debugging application programs or three years experience coding, testing, and debugging application programs. Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, Windows operating systems, Microsoft Access and Oracle databases.

  • Ability to clearly, effectively and respectfully communicate in a business environment. Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with agency supervisors and colleagues, business associates, and state officials. Possess independent thinking and problem-solving skills. Analytical thought is necessary to deal with the magnitude of complex data. Manage and utilize resources available to complete projects.
  • This developer will use prescribed methods and tools to develop, enhance, and document program code in various languages to include but not be limited to MS Access, HTML 5, CSS 3, Bootstrap, JavaScript, jQuery, PHP, SQL, PL/SQL, etc. Applications and procedures will adhere to standards and security practices of the IT Department and the agency.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and application of system design and development principles, project management methodologies, and data management principles.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and quickly assess situations and propose potential solutions.
  • Strong problem solving and creative skills and the ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analyses.
