General Ledger Accountants at Randstad USA

job summary:

We are seeking General Ledger Accountants in the Washington, DC/Northern, Virginia area to join our team.

The successful candidate will have knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, a history of in-proof general ledger reconciliations and experiencing applying a continuous improvement mindset.

What You Will Do :


  • Perform daily and monthly general ledger entries and reconciliations
  • Prepare various reconciliations and ensure appropriate support is in place for general ledger balances.
  • Responsible for property, plant and equipment, daily cash balancing, wires, monthly vendor accruals, prepaids and cash disbursement activities.
  • Identify and take the initiative to resolve any out of balances so that company losses can be minimized
  • Provide back-up support for the accounts payable and other cash disbursement functions.
  • Update financial information in systems or spreadsheets to ensure all information is accurate and available when needed.
  • Responsible for month-end close journal entries and preparing supporting documentation
  • Identify and help resolve general ledger balance variances
  • Document and maintain up to date processes and procedures
  • Assist manager with documenting accounting memos and flow charts
  • Assist in implementing accounting entries for new initiatives and transactions.
  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and the ability to independently apply generally accepted accounting principles
  • Juggle multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Knowledge of excel and formulas to efficiently summarize large data files and assemble files in a manner to record accounting entries or explain account balances.
  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills
  • Analytical and critical thinking
  • Self-starter with a continuous improvement mindset


Qualifications :


  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Minimum of 3 years' hands-on accounting experience
  • Solid understanding of accounting principles and practices
  • Candidates with experience in government contracting, law firms, non-profit and grant accounting are highly preferred
