Project Overview:
The temporary staff will handle EOS and the upcoming wearables program for textile development. Along with that the candidate will help on the integration support on these textiles into final product assemblies. Will work with xFn folks during this time which includes (REL, PD, OPS, Design, CMF and EPM)
Overall Responsibilities:
- The Work: Textile Expert -
- Work closely with ID/CMF Designers/PD on materials inspiration and textile selection for new products to achieve functional, cosmetic and performance goals
- Research cutting-edge and next-gen yarn materials and help engineer exciting constructions that are a core to Client textile design language
- Textile development: work with yarn suppliers to enable future roadmap: e.g. sustainable textiles, balance property tradeoffs and drive technical path to scalable solution
- Root-cause integration related issues caused by textiles and help resolve in a timely manner with integrators to trial new integration concepts
- Work within region partners to review color, textiles and integration at both raw material and integrated level perspective to ensure design intent has been achieved
- Able to work independently and thrive in ambiguity
Top 2 Daily Responsibilities:
- Project follow up with suppliers and update share out with leadership as needed
- Textile DRI for the programs allocated and will take over daily communications with xFn teams
Skill/Experience/Education
Mandatory
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Textiles, Fiber Science or similar engineering discipline
- 3+ years industrial work experience with textile engineering, yarn development and manufacturing textiles in high volume consumer electronics products
- Experience with various textile materials including synthetics and natural fibers, manufacturing/assembly processes such as knitting, weaving, die cutting and bonding
Desired
Preferred Qualifications:
- Mechanical engineer with soft-goods background
- MS specializing in Textiles, Fiber Science or similar engineering discipline
- 5+ years' work experience in textile/fabric development in consumer devices
- Passion for materials engineering and strong organization and project management skills
- Strong working knowledge of material analysis and failure analysis techniques
- Experience working with vendors and integration in Asia
- Hands-on experience designing tests and performing experiments to develop new materials
