Vehicle Operations Manufacturing Engineering (VOME) is a cross-functional team having the primary responsibility to plan for and implement the launch of new vehicle programs at assembly plants.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver Manufacturing Quality Operating System requirements for Plant Tooling
- Collaborate with Product Development team to generate facility & tooling costs, improve quality, and reduce labor requirements
- Use virtual tools to evaluate tooling feasibility of new model designs for assembly operations
- Write/modify/maintain process sheets and deliver updated Cycle Line Layouts
- Lead identification, resolution, and closure of Final Assembly Engineering (FAE) feasibility issues
- Develop and foster working relationships with new and existing tooling vendors to develop new processes/equipment and to continuously improve the equipment we have already deployed.
- Lead assembly tooling buy-off, installation, start-up, and commissioning at the assembly site. In addition, support tooling buy-offs at vendor facilities.
- Lead Program Cost Studies and work with cross functional teams within the organization to ensure proper Tooling is included and a plan for implementation.
- Developed Design and Build Scopes of Work associated with Program Upperbody Tooling along with Installation Scopes of Work.
- Lead identification, resolution, and closure of all launch product, process and tooling issues
- Review "Lessons Learned" from New Model launches and implement Prevent Reoccurrence Actions into future programs
- Interface with cross-functional activities (Program Implementation Teams, Product Development, Supplier Technical Assistance, Material Planning & Logistics, New Model Programs)
Skills Required:
- Strong Project Management skills and result-oriented mindset
- Strong computer skills (Excel, Power Point, etc.)
- Ability to operate in stressful situations within timing constraints.
- Ability to work with minimal direct supervision
Skills Preferred:
- 3D CAD review abilities (Teamcenter, VisMockup, CATIA, or equivalent)
- Understanding of PFMEA and failure mode avoidance principles
- Knowledge in the following OEM software systems: AVBOM, WERS, GSPAS/APT, Teamcenter, E2KS/Auros, AIMS, CPARS/Aurora
- Experience in one or more of the following automotive systems: Interior, Exterior, Chassis
Experience Required:
- 2+ years of experience in Automotive Manufacturing Engineering
- 2+ years of experience w/automotive assembly tooling, processes and facilities
- Bachelor Degree in Engineering
