Summary

The Merchandising Assistant collaborates with the Merchandise Manager to drive the strategic direction of the brands product assortment. Organizational and analytical skills as well as an eye for relevant trends are critical for success in this role

Description

  • Assist in maintaining merchandising charts and distributing information to appropriate departments
  • Assist in identifying the voids and opportunities in the assortment based on market trends, competitive landscape and historical performance
  • Research new launches, color trends and white space in the market
  • Stay current on emerging fashion industry trends through outlets such as trade publications, fashion magazines and social media
  • Visit stores monthly to understand promotional strategies, visual presentation and customer base
  • Track and analyze sales and call out any concerns as well as opportunities and make recommendations
  • Assist with initial merchandising plan creation and maintenance to ensure product is reflective of the strategies and needs of the business. Prioritize developments based on needs of the season
  • Assist in assigning color to styles for each season
  • Create color codes for all new colors for each season
  • Work with merchandise manager to ensure all market tools are accurate, complete and passed off adhering to process and calendar
  • Coordinate with cross functional teams to guarantee accurate sample coordination and pass off

Profile

  • College Degree- AS/BS/BA, preferably in Apparel/Fashion Merchandising
  • 1-3 years intimate apparel experience or a luxury brand
  • Experience in merchandising, product development or equivalent
  • Ability to multi-task in fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication skills- verbal and written
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills with great attention to detail
  • Proficient in Microsoft applications- Excel, Word, Outlook, Power Point
  • Knowledge of AI, Photoshop, InDesign
  • Excellent leadership skills, and ability to work in a team environment
