Manager Overview

Mold Development Engineering is searching for a highly capable and experienced Project Manager to plan, track, and communicate across functional groups for mold procurement projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong project track record and training, specifically related to engineering and procurement of plastic injection molds. Molds range from simple prototype to high end and complex SPI Class 101 production molds. We are a high performing team that nurtures a collaborative team working environment. We are not looking for someone who knows what a mold is, but rather someone with strong passion, talent, and experience in this specific field.

Scope of Position

Provide project management expertise for new mold procurement projects across the division

Collaborate with various internal teams to obtain information to plan and set up projects for success

Prepare and host internal kick-off meetings for project teams

Communicate status regularly to various levels in the organization throughout the project duration

Typical mold solutions include prototype, SPI Class 103, and SPI Class 101 plastic injection molds

Major Roles and Responsibilities:

Day-to-Day:

Project Development:

Work with project teams to ensure their injection mold related needs are met

Offer solutions and guidance to customers based on project criteria

Work with mold build team to:

Create budgetary funding and capacity utilization estimates for new mold projects

Proposed tooling solutions that meet total product life requirements, optimize cavitation, meet or exceed cycle time targets, and minimize material usage

Gather information required for successful mold kick-off meetings and project launch

Financial Planning and Support:

Provide budgetary numbers to project teams for AR purposes

Support internal process for capital AR justification

Provide financial guidance to project teams with regards to internal AR process

Lead efforts on certain AR requests at times

Update Plant Capital Managers on project spend projections

Project Communication:

Meet with project teams starting in the early stages of their mold planning

Track and communicate upcoming projects with Mold Build Team

Send regular updates to organization for active mold projects

Actively communicate and manage changes in project schedules to minimize impact

Projects involved with:

Molds for new product introductions

Capacity molds for expanding product lines

Top divisional capacity, cost or capability improvement projects

Skill and Knowledge Requirements

Expected Education / Certification:

BS in Mechanical or Plastics Engineering or equivalent preferred

PMP certification

Work Experience Requirements:

5+ years of project management, emphasis in plastic injection molds or other custom capital purchases strongly preferred

Required Skills:

Strong project management capability

Ability to utilize all MS Office applications

Effective verbal and written communication in English and Spanish

Ability to lead and participate in cross-functional teams

Desired Skills:

Functional with 3D CAD software

Detailed knowledge of all types of injection mold tooling

Thorough knowledge of secondary assembly and decorating processes

Familiarity with automation processes
