Pre-Clinical Program Manager at Yoh

Yoh is seeking a part-time, remote Preclinical Program Manager to support our clinical oncology client in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Location: San Jose – Remote, the successful candidate will need to be able to attend partner and team meetings in person in San Jose.

Type: Contract-to-hire -- This is a part time role for 15-30 hours per week.

The Program Manager, Preclinical Sciences will be responsible for ensuring the creation and successful delivery of programs and projects, driving communication, alignment, and decision making, strategy, scope, and goals throughout Program and Project Teams. This role will also participate in key initiatives that have a cross-functional or cross-company impact. This person will implement and drive development strategy and tactical execution of the programs through the discovery and validation of cancer targets aligned with the core team initiatives and overall program goals. This person will lead cross-functional Project Teams focused on the development of novel therapeutics from discovery to validation and beyond. The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to be both detail-oriented and to think strategically.

Professional Responsibilities:

  • Oversee program management activities including planning, scope, reporting, global risk assessment and mitigation, and lessons learned.
  • Report and present program information to functional heads.
  • Facilitate decision-making, collaboration, and problem-solving with people at all levels of the organization and alliance partners to accomplish shared goals.
  • Manage with the cross-functional teams responsible for discovery, target validation and partners.
  • Identify and champion best practices in Program Management, including the use of templates, tools, and processes to drive efficiency, alignment, and effective planning.
  • Seamlessly manage multiple projects and responsibilities concurrently.

Qualifications:

  • Master's in biology, biochemistry or chemistry
  • Familiarity with preclinical drug discovery
  • Ensure all deliverables meet the highest standards and are completed on time
  • Plan agendas for meetings with both CROs and internal partners
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Outstanding written and oral communication
  • Outstanding leadership skills including an innovative approach to problem-solving, and an integrated view of business and scientific issues.
  • Ability to communicate progress, key developments, and problems to your supervisor in the form of meetings, and reports.
  • Ability to integrate cross-functional issues and balance competing priorities effectively.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and facilitation skills; ability to communicate and present clearly and concisely; bringing issues to closure with both executive management and scientists.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

  • Ph.D. in biology, biochemistry or chemistry
  • Experience with programs in oncology is strongly preferred
  • Previous experience in project management
  • 3+ years of experience in preclinical drug discovery in a biotechnology or pharmaceutical company, or contract research organization (CRO)
