Our Las Vegas based client is searching for a Senior Accountant within the hotel and gaming industry.

responsibilities:
PRIMARY JOB DUTIES:
- Reconciles complicated accounts in a timely, effective manner using judgment to identify and resolve variances
- Prepares complicated journal entries by assigned due dates
- Conducts accounting research and provide recommendations for applying GAAP principles to business transactions
- Analyzes assigned department profit and loss statements to ensure accuracy, make necessary corrections and provides results to operating departments
- Facilitates the flow of information throughout the property, by attending regularly scheduled departmental meetings and acting as a resource for accounting policy and procedure
- Reconciles fixed asset accounts in a timely, effective manner
- Prepares fixed asset related journal entries by assigned due dates
- Applies GAAP principles to accounting processes; conducts accounting research
- Works with other departments to ensure timely communication of documents related to the acquisition and disposition of fixed assets
- Maintains the fixed asset ledger by updating it with any additions and disposals of assets
- Prepares and distributes other reports and/or analysis as needed
- Assists with preparation, analysis, and verification of various schedules for external reporting
- Prepares data for internal and external auditors
- Prepares and/or assists in various tax calculations and related filings
- Held accountable, to a high degree, for the accuracy confidentiality, and thoroughness of departmental records and reports
- Assist other members of the Finance and Accounting as needed
- Assists in standardizing processes and identification of process improvements
- Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
- Minimum of 5 years of work experience in a similar environment
- At least 1 year of fixed asset accounting experience
- Bachelor's degree or higher from four-year college or university in Finance, Accounting, Business Management or related field.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex of documents, such as technical journals, financial reports and legal documents
- Ability to write effective letters and memos
- Ability to effectively communicate in one-on one, small group, and large group settings.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals, and work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables
Preferred:
- Previous experience working in the hotel/gaming industry
